CHAPTER 12
Drew
âWhat do you want to drink?â Sephy smiled up at me from her place at the bar and I pulled my eyes away from the cleavage that was practically spilling out of the front of her silky pink dress. It wasnât that it was inappropriate, she was just that stunning, and the silky material emphasised her every curve while catching the light andâ
âDrew?â she said, a smile curving her full bottom lip and I laughed.
âSorry, Iâll just have a beer please.â
The bartender read out what they had on tap and I tuned her out, letting Sephy choose for me. I wasnât a big drinker really, when sheâd suggested we get a drink after dinner Iâd agreed simply because I wanted to spend time with her.
âThanks.â I took a sip as the glass was set down and then blew out a big breath. âI think that burger might have killed me if Iâd finished it. Did you see the size of that thing?â
Sephy laughed and nodded, humouring me. Probably because Iâd exclaimed that exact same thing about three times while Iâd been devouring it.
âHow was your chicken thing?â
âIt was alright.â She grinned. âNot as big as your burger.â
One of the things I liked most about Sephy was that when she teased me, which was often, her blue eyes seemed to get lighter. It was like up until that moment sheâd been carrying the weight of the world and managed to forget it for a few moments to laugh with me.
Last night had felt like maybe one of the best of my life, seeing this gorgeous woman who so often had her guards up completely relax had given me more pleasure than Iâd been expecting. âHow do you feel after last night?â Sephy had pretty much passed out in Julesâ bed after the wet ânâ wild bath weâd all shared and I knew she had a tendency to overthink things, it made me worried about what had been brewing in that mind of hers since sheâd left the lodge this morning.
âHappy,â she said, surprising me. âYou look shocked.â
I grinned. âThatâs because Iâm terrible at hiding my emotions or repressing my thoughts.â
âYou do have a serious lack of filter.â My smile dimmed slightly, unsure if that was a good thing, until she continued, âItâs one of the things I like most about you. I never have to guess what youâre thinking or if somethingâs wrong, because youâll just tell me.â
âOf course,â I said, confused and she pressed a sweet kiss to my cheek.
âClearly you donât understand how rare that is in a man. Or anyone, really.â
I shrugged. âItâs not an approach everyone has liked.â
She sipped her drink, watching me as she swallowed and for some reason that was what had my dick standing to attention.
âThen those people are idiots.â She smirked. âBut itâs to my benefit really, now I get you all to myself.â
âOh?â I asked as she blushed. âYouâre sealing the deal with me already, are you? Weâre official?â
She played with the straw in the tall glass of her cocktail, pursing her lips as she considered her response.
